Stupid Pain, Stupid CrossFit
Several weeks ago, I invited someone from a local CrossFit studio to speak for our half-marathon’s ‘Strength Training’ session. I strongly regret that. He correctly mentioned that high intensity workouts can give you rapid benefits, but missed the warnings that high intensity, high impact workouts are very dangerous. Before he left, he challenged me to do one of his workouts, and if I did he would do one of mine. I should have left it alone, but the challenge was too tempting. Another Start
“Training for your next race starts at the finish line of your last race” It has been a while since I last posted. I hope to bet more regular with updates as the season becomes more intense. After the Goofiness that was the Goofy Challenge at Disneyworld (pics and race reports coming eventually…), I tried jumping right back into training. A week into training I went down with the worst flu of my life. I’m back and recovered now, but I appreciate that I should respect my recovery more. A pleasant surprise
I ran the Ottawa half-marathon earlier this year and it’s currently my personal best. It’s also one of my favourite stories, but I’ll never commit it to writing. Ask me about it in person some time ;). This postcard encouraging me to run it again arrived yesterday. The back of the postcard seemed pretty typical of advertising. However, I was quite surprised when I turned it over. The postcard was customized to show my time! I’m pretty blown away. It’s also really nice to see my finishing time so tangible.
