I knew this was coming but I didn’t realize how lousy it would feel. I’m in bed, wrapped up in half-a-dozen layers trying to stay warm in a house that I bet already feels like a sauna. A flu got me, and it is all my fault. For the last month, I’ve been doing a lot of rotating shifts for work. Nutrition Rant

This post started as me questioning some conflicting ideas about food and ballooned into this epic rant about fitness and the state of nutrition culture. Oh dear…   Feeding The Athlete Fitness is sometimes defined by four elements: Endurance, Strength, Flexibility and Balance. I realize that speed isn’t on that list, but I think it’s a combination of the four. CrossFit seems to think there are 10, but they’re really just combining these base elements into slick marketing. Detraining Guilt

It’s been over a week since my back-to-back marathons and I’m feeling very guilty. I’m guilty of enjoying my detraining too much! The wear on my body after the two full marathons was much worse than what I have experienced in the past. Among other extreme pains, I was unable to use my right hip flexor for over a day. I had to lift my right leg with my arm to get into my car!
