Throwback Thursday: December 15, 2013 Snow Run

Last week’s inaugural Throwback Thursday was such a bit hit, I’m going to try to make it a regular occurrence. It will be a mix of Running posts that reminisce about previous races and such, mixed in with posts from my pre-running life.

This week’s Throwback isn’t from that far back at all. These photos are from December 15, 2013. These photos were originally posted to Facebook by my running friend Clive. He decided to stay safe and warm in his condo instead of running that Sunday morning. But, he did take these great photos!

It would have been about -13ºC at the time with lots of fresh snow. I remember that I bailed on going out that Saturday night because I was worried about the driving conditions. This article from the Toronto Star says there was up to 18cm of fresh snow from the night before.

My dailymile records say I ran 17km that day. In fact, it’s really funny looking back on that post: I mocked winter… and winter spent the next few months torturing us all. I apologize.

Dear December: I see you responded to me mocking you on Friday night with 15+ cm of snow. Well played…. but SCREW YOU! I still did 10 miles this morning! WHAT ELSE YOU GOT?!?

It’s warmer out now, so it’s interesting to reflect on how much colder and snowier it was not so long ago!
