Hero Story
I certainly don’t consider myself a hero of any sort, but the Trillium Health Centre Foundation just posted a bit on my Mississauga Half-Marathon fundraising campaign. I’m in their Hero Gallery.
Paul doesn’t need a superhero cape to prove that he is an everyday hero. But the cape fit, so he ran with it in support of Trillium Health Centre Foundation at the Mississauga Marathon.
Paul has participated in many running events across the city, and this year he decided to run the Mississauga Marathon in support of Trillium Health Centre Foundation. His goal was to raise $500, but thanks to his creativity and enthusiasm he was able to surpass his goal and raise over $785!
“This hospital is very important to me. I was born at the Mississauga site of the hospital. My mother recently retired after over 30 years of being a registered nurse at Trillium. Everyone in my family has had surgery there. It’s an important part of the community and I thought I’d take this opportunity to support it.” says Paul.
Drawing inspiration from the Foundation’s Calling All Heroes campaign, Paul decided to run the half-marathon dressed as a Trillium Hero with a one-of-a-kind hero costume. He even had his mother help create a blue superhero cape, which he decorated with a Giving 110% hero crest.
Paul’s race was a success, and he looks forward to the full Mississauga Marathon in 2013 where he hopes to recruit a whole team of superheroes to fundraise together for Trillium Health Centre Foundation!
We thank you Paul, for your all your enthusiasm and support!

It’s pretty motivating to look back at that and see that it all turned out so well. I’m planning to get a team of superhero fundraising runners to do this together next year! Who’s in?!
I’m already working on my new campaign, fundraising for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. I’ll be running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in October as as part of Team LiveSTRONG.
Please consider donating this new campaign. Several $10 donations and I’ll be right up to my $500 goal!
