Jumping In!
I got a couple good doses of motivation last week. One of them was encouraging comments from you, my dear readers to a post I made. Thank you! When I went for a 6km run last week, my biggest limiting factor wasn’t my injury; it was that I was rusty. My body had gotten so used to rest that it resisted the increased heart rate and activity. Happy Retirement to Me!
No no! I’m not leaving my job as an electrical engineer. I love my day job and can see myself happily working here until I retire. I am announcing my retirement from being a marathon clinic instructor. I’ve had a great time with the Square One Running Room. In the fall of 2011 I started as a half-marathon clinic instructor with Dino DiBernardo. The goal race for that clinic was the Chilly Half-Marathon 2012. Strength Training Dilemma
I don’t need to go into detail about how valuable strength training is for marathon runners. I can measure my marathon successes directly upon how much strength training I’ve done that season. And I know that such things will make me lose weight, build muscle mass, look better and hopefully be more confident. Since my trainer moved to Vancouver, I have had trouble motivating myself to go to the gym and work hard.
