Tapering for the Mississauga Half-Marathon and 5k

The final countdown is on to the Mississauga Marathon weekend events. I’m in the full grip of taper now and starting to feel the itches of taper madness. This weekend I’m running the 5 and a half. Not 5.5km, but 5km on Saturday night, then 21.1km on Sunday morning. Originally, I only planned to do the 5k, which would allow me to complete the Mississauga set (I’ve previously run the full in 2011, half in 2012, 10k in 2013). Countdown to the Mississauga Marathon Events

Last Saturday, I ran the Mississauga Half-Marathon route in preparation for the Mississauga Half-Marathon! Only two weeks left until I run the Mississauga 5k and Half-Marathon. Our local Running Room was unexpectedly closed for Easter Sunday. So, I decided I’d do my scheduled run on the Saturday instead. And a few friends joined me!   It took me a couple of kilometers to warm up, but after I got about 6km into it, I felt a lot better. Around The Bay Goals

The 120th Anniversary of the Around The Bay 30k in Hamilton is coming this Sunday! This will be my 4th time running it (also see my 2012 and 2013 race reports). There are some changes this year: The course has changed to avoid a repeat of last year’s ‘train delay’. There are great posts by Kenny Yum and Emma Iserman describing the modified course. Copps Coliseum has been renamed the FirstOntario Centre. I expect everyone will still call it Copps Coliseum for a while. There will be no baggage check this year! Really?
