Before anything else, I’d like to thank my lovely readers! I’m not sure who you all are, but I appreciate those of you who I’ve met and contacted. And I really appreciate that you read and reply to my random rantings! I plan to start publishing on a more regular basis. Early Bird Pricing

Even though running is one of the cheapest sports, it still has some costs: There are small fixed costs like shirts, shorts, belts and other gear. There are also consumables including shoes andĀ gels. But those are still pretty small. A rather large cost that’s hard to avoid is races. I’m planning my races for the upcoming Winter and Spring. I plan on hitting the “Southern Ontario Triple Crown” again of Chilly, ATB and the GFTM. I also plan to do the Mississauga Marathon 5k to complete the set (full in 2011, half in 2012, 10k in 2013, 5k in 2014?).[…continue reading]

Doubt

I haven’t had a very good race season. I’ve had all sorts of setbacks like injury, overtraining bouts and illness. I’m disappointed that I’ve bailed on races, especially the Berlin Marathon. And my overall lack of mileage this summer casts some serious doubt over my last two races this season. I’m finishing “Marathoning for Mortals” by Jenny Hadfield and John ‘The Penguin’ Bingham (book review coming soon, I promise!) and they write that your performance is based on the miles you’ve actually run, not the miles that were scheduled!
