iPod Down :(
It is with great sadness that I announce that my beloved iPod has died. It came to an unfortunate end following the recent Ottawa Army Run. It rained heavily and I suspect that water has damaged its internal workings. I picked up this iPod in the summer of 2012. Before that, I had a different 6th Generation iPod Nano, which was also put out of commission by running a race during the rain in Ottawa (hmmm… I’ve lost two iPods to almost identical circumstances). Super Visor!
A little over a week ago, someone at the Running Room said she recognized me from the Mississauga Marathon‘s website because of my visor. Recently, a few others have noted that I almost never run with something covering the top of my head. I guess it’s kinda true that wearing visors have become something of a signature for me. Even when I paced races last year, I cut the ‘pace bunny ears’ off of the hat they provided and stapled them to a visor I bought. As you might imagine, I’ve got quite a collection now. On Uniforms
While cheering on runners during the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon events a couple of weekends ago, I noticed a lot of running uniforms featuring club affiliations as well as charity logos. It made me think a lot about the nature of how an individual sport like running can also have a team aspect. I understand and appreciate that elites wear uniforms to display their team and/or national colours for sponsorship purposes. I imagine that the logos on elite runner uniforms are really important for their sponsors. I recognized the Running Room sponsored athletes.
