I’m getting to the end of Phase II of my Jack Daniels Inspired Summer Training Program and was getting concerned that I didn’t have the plan for Phase III complete yet. I love executing plans, and was getting antsy that a plan wouldn’t be ready in time. But, I’ve had a little time to pour over his book and whipped up this plan for the next 6 weeks. This part is the real meat of the program: The most mileage weeks and challenging quality workouts. Back when I posted my plan for Phase I of my Jack Daniels Inspired Summer Training Program, I thought that 4 weeks of easy runs would be EASY! Long story short, it wasn’t. I hope that I have the necessary base for the upcoming fun.  This Early Quality phase of the program is marked by the introduction of interval work during both quality workouts. This period also has an increase in mileage. I had a very humbling run on Wednesday night. I felt sore, sluggish, out of shape, and to top it all off, I had to run to a bathroom during the run. It’s with that kind of humility that I am looking forward to 4 weeks of easy runs to build my base fitness up again. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised I’m so rusty: I haven’t been eating or sleeping well since the Mississauga races. I haven’t been cross training, stretching or foam rolling either.
