In Praise of the Swim

When I got injured and couldn’t run for a while, a lot of people recommended that I should swim to maintain my fitness. I was in such a mental funk that I didn’t do anything and lost a lot of fitness. For several weeks now, I’ve been swimming in the early morning once or twice a week. Auf Wiedersehen Berlin

It is with genuine sadness that I am officially withdrawing from the BWM Berlin Marathon. There are a lot of reasons behind my decision, but the short version is that the cons outweighed the pros.   I’d like to thank everyone who has been reading along as I mulled this decision, particularly those who commented on this post from last week. It’s really nice to have ‘fans’ that care so much and give friendly advice. Communication from the organizers has been quick, but their English isn’t super-clear. Restarted Season!

My 23km run on Sunday was a success! It was great! I was a little stiff starting the run, but I took my time, did my 5-and-1’s, and finshed strong. The stiffness went away as I ran, and I found I was speeding up towards the end. There was wind, some rain, and it was even pretty dark when I finshed, but I think that just made it more epic!
