Tapering for the Mississauga Half-Marathon and 5k
The final countdown is on to the Mississauga Marathon weekend events. I’m in the full grip of taper now and starting to feel the itches of taper madness. This weekend I’m running the 5 and a half. Not 5.5km, but 5km on Saturday night, then 21.1km on Sunday morning. Originally, I only planned to do the 5k, which would allow me to complete the Mississauga set (I’ve previously run the full in 2011, half in 2012, 10k in 2013). Cycling with Darkwing Duck
If you follow me on dailymile, you may have seen that I’ve been cycling up a storm on my stationary bike. In fact, I’ve put over 140km on it since January, and that’s not counting the miles I put on it for the 5-10 minutes I use it to warm-up before my weights. It was getting a little boring, and sometimes there’s nothing to watch on TV. I experimented playing PS3 while cycling, but couldn’t keep up the pace. Super Visor!
A little over a week ago, someone at the Running Room said she recognized me from the Mississauga Marathon‘s website because of my visor. Recently, a few others have noted that I almost never run with something covering the top of my head. I guess it’s kinda true that wearing visors have become something of a signature for me. Even when I paced races last year, I cut the ‘pace bunny ears’ off of the hat they provided and stapled them to a visor I bought. As you might imagine, I’ve got quite a collection now.
