I’m running. Standby.
A little corollary to a post I made a few months ago about a lot of running in the new Star Trek Movie. I saw this animated GIF on Tumblr and had to share it. In this scene, Engineer Montgomery Scott (Scotty) is running down a very long room. Simon Pegg who stared in Run Fatboy Run really sells the scene and provides some comic relief in a very tense part of the movie. This article says that Pegg ran so fast that he after the 3rd taping of running all out, he threw up. I just thought that the phrase “I’m running. Standby.”[…continue reading]

On Uniforms
While cheering on runners during the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon events a couple of weekends ago, I noticed a lot of running uniforms featuring club affiliations as well as charity logos. It made me think a lot about the nature of how an individual sport like running can also have a team aspect. I understand and appreciate that elites wear uniforms to display their team and/or national colours for sponsorship purposes. Dopey Training: Week Minus One
As far as I’m concerned 2013 is already a bad memory. My last race of 2013 is in the bag and I feel like I learned a lot of hard lessons from my struggles this year. I’m already squarely focused on 2014! Andrea made a really nice comment on my last post: Here’s to the end of the 2013 running season and onto great things in 2014.
