Spring 2015 Training Plan: Foundation & Injury Prevention

After almost going stir-crazy resting for two weeks after the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon, I’m done reflecting and ready to start training again. I have a lot of work to do if I want to make a good showing at the New York Marathon this fall. I’ve based this program as an amalgamation of a Jack Daniel’s plan and the Running Room Plan. The first 6 weeks is base building, or as Dr. Daniel’s puts it, “Foundation & Injury Prevention.” I started last summer with a similar program. I have mentioned that I’m leery of “mud” and “adventure” races. Even the Color Run I did last year was quite out of my comfort zone. But, fate has an interesting way of throwing such discomfort in your face. This week, the ever-lovely Nicole posted a contest on her blog that included a giveaway for an entry to a Spartan Run. 2015 Winter Season Review

Humbling: That’s the best word to describe how I feel after the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon. The season started WAY back in November right after the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas half-marathon and I went straight into leading a half-marathon clinic. I had delusions of grandeur of achieving amazing things by following a Jack Daniels’ training program. But, it was a cold winter and it was difficult to run fast.
