No, Master Bruce. I expect you to run
So, this post is slightly out of the usual, but it was so clever that I HAD to share it.
I’ll be honest, I don’t watch the Gotham TV series. I sometimes see glimpses of it on TV, but mostly I’ve learned about it through things people post on Tumblr. The show is essentially a crime drama, but it is set in the Batman comic book universe shortly after Bruce Wayne’s parent’s are murdered and long before he dons the cape and cowl.
I saw this post on Tumblr which captures a scene from a recent episode and it spoke to me on several levels: Firstly because it’s a nice little origins bit about Batman. Secondly, because it’s a snarky conversation about running. And it’s MEMEtastic!

Transcript:
[Alfred]: Now I clocked Wayne Manor at exactly six and a half miles, it should take 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on how many times you stop of course.
[Alfred]: You said you wanted to train, to prepare.
[Alfred]: Well, this is it.
[Bruce]: Wait you… you expect me to walk?
[Alfred]: No, Master Bruce. I expect you to run.
[Alfred drives off leaving Bruce in a small cloud of exhaust]
The zinger line reminds me of that famous quip from Goldfinger.
Also, 6.5 miles is a little over 10km. Two hours, Alfred? That’s generous :p
