Early Season Slump
Things really aren’t going as I had planned so far this season. I got a late start due to a medical complication, my paces are awful, my weight is not good and I feel like I’m letting my clinic down. What a mess! I have some pretty lofty goals for myself this season: Together with Amar Sandhu, we’re leading the Marathon Clinic at our local Running Room Beat my previous personal best at the Bank of American Chicago Marathon. Downtime: No Running?!
About a year ago I had Laser Eye Surgery with TLC Laser Eye Centers. I have been very happy with the results. But lately something has been a bit odd with my right eye. There are mandatory check-ups every 3 months, and the optholmogist noticed something not quite perfect with my right eye. I won’t go into any details, but I’m getting it “enhanced” later today. It’s covered by the “lifetime guarantee” (warranty) so I don’t have to pay anything. I knew this was coming for a while. I expected to need an “enhancement” but in July. The Edge of Injury
I’ve got Lady Gaga’s Edge of Glory stuck in my head. The title seemed appropriate for this post. The last week has been a grind. I had that great 70km week after Around The Bay. Then a similarly hardcore week afterwards, including an 8km race. But I’m hurting everywhere, especially my ankles and calves. I have the trademark over-training symptoms.
