Monday Motivation: Hardcore

Another Motivation Motivation! Do you readers like these?   This next quote is one of my favourites. I actually had it printed on my shirt for the Ottawa Half-Marathon in 2011. “Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.” Obviously, pain is not a good thing and exercising with pain isn’t a very good idea. But the idea is that mild discomfort is going to happen. Motivation Monday: Jillian Michaels

I’m not a big fan of Jillian Michaels. In my opinion, she is the worst of the trainers on The Biggest Loser. She yells and is a bully. That abusive kind of “boot-camp intensity” works with some people, but can have the opposite effect with some. The flaws in her method often appear early in Biggest Loser seasons when she is often the first to lose trainees.    But there’s no denying that she’s in incredible shape, and has thousands of clients who swear by her techniques and products. And, she does say some profoundly motivating things when she’s not yelling.  Here’s my favourite[…continue reading]

I’m thinking I should start some regular features on this blog, like starting “Motivation Monday” and “Throwback Thursday” (like this one). I started “Follow Friday” but stopped updating after two iterations. I’ll try to get back on schedule. As I’ve said many times, I like order.   I’ve mentioned my Motivation Board a couple of times. I find it really nice to physically see some motivating phrases, maps, and other reminders before I go to sleep and as soon as I wake.
