There’s No Such Thing As “Fit”
You’ll have to excuse the inflammatory title. It’s meant to be eye-catching, but not entirely misleading. I’ve been on an interesting journey this winter: I have been exceptionally busy, and with limited time (and lousy weather) I didn’t run as much as I have in previous years. As a result, my running fitness is pretty poor by comparison (see my time from the recent Chilly Half-Marathon). And I’m heavier than I’ve been in a long time. Camille Leblanc-Bazinet and a Photoshop Fail
I recently ‘liked‘ Canadian CrossFit athlete Camille Leblanc-Bazinet. You can ‘like‘ her too on facebook, follow her on twitter, see her videos on youtube, or read her BNS profile. Her fame recently exploded as she won the 2014 Reebok Crossfit Games and earned the title of “Fittest Woman in the World“. (I definitely put “Fittest” in quotes. She is incredibly fit, and I’m sure she deserves the title of greatest CrossFit athlete. But, I don’t agree that CrossFit’s definition the 10 elements or components of fitness. The Rebound
I came into this interseason period with a burning feeling of failure and anger. Time and reassuring words from many dear running friends has help soothe my sore feelings after the Ottawa Army Run didn’t go as well as planned. And a little reality check has helped me refocus. I’ve had a lot off time to think about what happened at Ottawa. I don’t think I was physically ready to do the half in under 2 hours, but I could have been closer than what happened.
