Running Comic by The Oatmeal!
I just had an emotional experience reading a webcomic. Almost every Friday, Mark Remy publishes “The List” on his blog at RunnersWorld.com with a set of topics that saavy runners will be talking about over the weekend. On this weeks list was a link to a webcomic by The Onion’s author Matthes Inman called “The Terrible & Wonderful Reasons Why I Run Long Distances.” The comic is beautiful, haunting, funny, brutally honest, and motivating. …Or Bust?
In a post from about a month ago, I declared I was going to run Berlin Or Bust! After a tough month of reality checks, my goal of running the Berlin Marathon in September seems pretty far away. The worst part is I think I might be okay with that… If I was following my training schedule for Berlin, I would have needed to do 23km Sunday night. I didn’t run at all. Temptation and Progress?
I can see it’s going to be a constant fight for motivation this season. I think I’m winning so far, but it’s a long 114 days until the Berlin Marathon (not that I’m counting…). I hope I can keep my motivation up that long. At the same time, it’s ONLY 114 days until the Berlin Marathon and I have a lot of training to accomplish in that rather short amount of time!
