Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, I imagine a few people are looking for ways to recover from the binge family eating. I thought this would be a good time to share a clever breakfast that my wife discovered and we have been enjoying for weeks! “Slow Oats” are like oatmeal, but instead of cooking the oats quickly with high heat or boiling water, the oats are “cooked” by soaking them overnight. Grilled Portobello Mushroom Recipe

Here’s an interesting crossover – BBQ of mushrooms? We saw portobello mushrooms at Costco, and decided that I wanted to do a challenge of grilling them. I often hear that mushrooms are the meat of the forest. However, mushrooms tend to be a little tasteless. So, I used a marinate based on the one on this site. Ingredients: 5 large portobello mushrooms 0.5 cups Zesty Italian Salad Dressing 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 teaspoon garlic salt 1 teaspoon ground black pepper Prepare the mushrooms by cutting off the stems. Loco Moco Recipe

Here’s a recipe for something different, and a little exotic, but strangely quite familiar. When my wife and I went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, we had to grab a quick lunch during a stop on our bus tour of Oahu. We were at the Dole Pineapple Plantation and had only a few minutes to grab something for lunch. We saw something on the menu called “Loco Moco” we were not disappointed!
